The original 1986 57-minute documentary which kicked off the Bush Tucker Man legend. Original Synopsis: Ethno-botanist Major Les Hiddins is a soldier with a unique job. He is studying the natural survival resources of the vast remote wilderness of northern Australia, learning, mainly from Aboriginal people, about the native bush food and medicine that has sustained their culture for more than forty thousand years. It is the first study of its kind in the two hundred years of European settlement of Australia and is providing valuable information which will greatly assist Australian soldiers in both war and peace should they ever have to survive in such inhospitable regions.
